Ílhavo – Porto de Aveiro – 30MAY – 10h00
On May 30 the region of Aveiro will be hit by a strong storm, provoking a scenario with very adverse weather conditions, causing intense wind gusts and a strong period of thunderstorms and lightning. Around 10:00 am Bresfor’s methanol tank will be hit by lightning, causing an explosion followed by a fire.
This explosion will cause a domino effect of internal occurrences and structural damage in the adjacent companies, the company BONDALTI-SPAMAG due to the impact wave will report a structural break of the aniline tank with spill.
In this scenario, the total liquid disposal terminal and the solid bulk terminal will be evacuated, cumulatively derived to the toxic cloud that will form in this zone the population at risk adjacent to the terminal will be evacuated.
